So…. the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed that I have not been doing much running lately. This is due to a couple of factors.
Firstly, after 99 days of running and 4350km covered I thought it prudent to give my body a 10 day to 2 week rest.
Secondly, I needed to get across the Sea of Cortez. As you will have read I managed to get a lift on a boat called Andante. So far we have motored across to Mazatlán and are now stopping off before we motor south to Puerto Vallarta where I will disembark.
Part of me thinks I should jump out at Mazatlán and start running tomorrow and believe me I have been wrestling this in my mind. However, when it comes down to it I have the opportunity to help crew a boat down the coast of Mexico with awesome people and visit some extraordinary scenery and nature reserves. You don’t get chances like this every day and I would be mad to turn it down.
I also have to remind myself of what I have already achieved and what lies ahead… Taking a little time out for me isn’t selfish, against the rules or wrong. I think that is something I have been bad at realising in the past, determined to just motor on with blinkers . There are still about 13,5000km still to run and I am still on schedule.
