OMG I got fat in the USA – Le Shock!!

So I have nearly completed stage one of my expedition to run 18,000km through the Americas. That is about 2700 km or 64 marathons in as many days. If we say that I burn about 5000 calories a day (probably more) on running days and 2500 on rest days that would equal 357,000 calories. That equates to about 1200 big mac meals! So how have I actually managed to put on fat while doing this! I was told that retaining weight would be my biggest problem but that really doesn’t seem to be the case.

Those of you who have been reading my blog will probably know how this has happened. I have eaten a lot of food including copious amounts of ice cream, M&Ms, burgers, burritos, tacos and occasionally washed it down with some beer. If I am going to be honest I am actually eating fish and chips right now…

I hate to think what would happen to me if I lived here and didn’t run a marathon every day!!!
